couch to 5K

I've never thought I was a runner and remain to be conviced this impact sport is good for you. I can see the logic of cylcing and swimming. Still at the moment I'm a complete slob so getting myself off the couch is probably better than doing nothing.
only 3 weeks in so probably a bad idea to try 5K, my achilles tendons aren't up to the job yet, even when I walk every alternate 250m
I looked at a few apps (nike+, endomondo, mapmyride) but strava seems to tick most of the boxes...
A few months on and I'm still at it. Running pretty regular at the local park run
